dear jahanavi 
in class 8 , just study for 4-5 hours per day , simple work u have to do , dnt take tension and stress yourself . 
for sst take out xamidea , it really works , start with ncert , while studying always make short notes , short notes are very imp for sst , 
and make a separate sheet for all the dates in history . 
and in every wekends revise all the stuff from your notes ,
