Dear Student,
The cut off of different colleges keeps on changing every year. While it would be challenging this year to make to the top enginering colleges, you can try private engineering as well as some good second string colleges.All the best!

40 marks in jee will not provide you any good govt institutions. You have the last and best option to opt some of the best private technologies like  Institute of Technology & Management, Gurgaon
Lovely professsional University , Babu Banarasi Das, Lucknow   
Galgotia, Noida. You can even take direct admission on behalf of your previous qualyfing marks.
