Electronics & Communication Engg is a very good branch to opt for @ IIIT-Allahabad !!
But you see that IIIT-Allahabad is not better than MNNIT,Allhabad/NIT-Trichy/NIT-Surathkal/NIT-Calicut/NIT-Warangal !!
But it is certainly better than the rest of the NIT's !!!!!
The faculty & placements @ IIIT-Allahabad are very good too ..
