it depends witch state(province)you are from.....try to get maximum advantage of your state quota to get mech in your state nit
dont consider dropping as an option as you ill surely get into some nice college. if you want to try again you can prepare for IIT-JEE and AIEEE while your first year since there is no academic burden in engineering colleges.many of my friends got tru IIT-JEE the same way
