If you need information about the branch that is “Industrial engineering (IE), often also called Industrial Engineering & Management, or simply Engineering & Management, teaches students about the design, planning and optimization of production and manufacturing processes “ .

Yes if you want to have it as a substitute to mechnaical you can go with it .But specially IES where it is not given as subject I suggest not to take it rather take mechanical and clear IES.
