Its a general misconception that computer science is the best branch. Ya, its a good one but you cant compare it with few other core branches like elec., mechanical etc. Mechanical has got much wider and broader scope than any other branch of NITs. As the college you are geting is also good you should definately go for mech. at Kurukshetra.
