Hi ,

IIITD&M Kancheepuram is a centre of excellence created by MHRD , Govt. of India in 2007 with the mandate of pursuing design and manufacturing oriented engineering education and research.

It is one of the two IIITD&Ms, the other one being located in Jabalpur. The other centrally funded IIITs are IIITM Gwalior and IIIT Allahabad. The Institute is presently operating from its temporary campus within IIT Madras and will be moving to its permament campus near Chennai. ?

The construction of  permanent campus of IIITDM Kancheepuram has not started as on June 2011. It is functioning from IIT Madras campus since 2007. But they are planning to move to a makeshift campus at Melakottiyur village in Kancheepuram District from August 2011. The constrction of makeshift campus is on. The drawings of buildings displayed in iiitdm website is only in paper yet.

Please visit their upcoming makeshift campus before you exercise your options. There will be only bare minimum facilities available for coming couple of years. I wish you all the best
