Why does the skin of fingers shrink when washing clothes for a long time?

When a cell is inserted in a hypertonic solution, exosmosis occurs, which is the passage of water beyond the cells. The flow of water outside causes the cell to become flaccid. Exosmosis causes the skin on our fingers to thin after we wash our clothing after a long time.
