The density of air determined by the average molecular mass of gases present in atmosphere.
In dry air , the maximum percentage is occupied by nitrogen(78%) and oxygen(21%) gas . The molecular weight of nitrogen is 28 and oxygen is 32 .
The average molecular weight of dry air will be 29 .
On adding water vapour the density decreases as the average molecular weight decreases( molecular weight of water vapour is 18) thus humid air has lower density.
