(A) Solids have the least energetic molecules compared to the other states of matter (liquids, gases, and plasmas).

The state of matter is determined by the arrangement and energy levels of the particles (atoms, molecules, or ions) that make up the material. In solids, the particles are closely packed together in a regular arrangement, and they have the least amount of kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is the energy associated with the motion of particles.

In contrast, liquids have slightly more energy than solids because their particles are still relatively close together, but they have enough energy to move past each other, leading to a more disordered arrangement. Gases have even higher energy levels than liquids as their particles are widely spaced and have high kinetic energy, constantly moving and colliding with each other and the container walls.

Plasmas, on the other hand, have the most energetic particles. In a plasma state, atoms have been stripped of their electrons, resulting in a collection of free electrons and ions. Plasmas are often created at extremely high temperatures, such as those found in stars, where the particles have a tremendous amount of kinetic energy.

So, the least energetic molecules are found in solids due to their ordered and closely packed structure, whereas plasmas have the most energetic particles as they consist of highly ionized and free-moving particles.
