The mixture of iron fillings and sulphur powder can be separated by the use of carbon disulphide(CS2) as solvent.This can be done as-
A mixture of iron fillings and sulphur powder is taken in a test-tube.Add carbon disulphide and shake the test-tube well.We will find that sulphur dissolves to form colourless solution and iron fillings settles down.In this way their mixture can be separated.
