Cathode rays- A beam of negatively charged particles coming out of cathode when an electric charge is passed through gases at very low temperature. These rays travel in straight line. These are deflected by electric and magnetic field.

Anode rays- A beam of positively charged particles coming out of anode when an electric charge is passed through gases at very low temperature. These rays also travel in straight line but their velocity is less than that of cathode rays. These are deflected by electric and magnetic field but the magnitude is less than that of cathode rays.

cathode rays are negatively charged rays                    anode rays are rays are positively charged rays that
that moves from cathode to anode.                              move from anode to cathode.

mass of charged particles does not depends                 mass of charged particles depend on type of gas
type of gas inside the apparatus.                                  inside the apparatus.

produces x rays when hit a metal target                        doesn’t produce such rays.

The difference between Cathode rays and Anode rays are:
Cathode rays
Cathode rays consist of negatively charged material particles called electrons
These rays deflect towards the positive plate of an electric field.
The charge to mass ratio (e / m) for the particles in the nature of the gas taken in the discharge tube.
Anode rays
These rays consists of positively charges material particles.
These rays deflect towards the negative plate of an electric field.
The charge to mass (e / m) ratio of the particles in anode rays depends upon the nature of the gas taken in the discharge tube.
