Plasmolysis is the process of shrinkage or contraction of the protoplasm of a plant cell as a result of loss of water from the cell. For. e.g. Red blood cells shrink when placed in salt solution. it is all the result of plasmolysis

Plasmolysis is the process in which cells lose water in a hypertonic solution. The reverse process, cytolysis, can occur if the cell is in a hypotonic solution resulting in a lower external osmotic pressure and a net flow of water into the cell. Through observation of plasmolysis and deplasmolysis, it is possible to determine the tonicity of the cell's environment as well as the rate solute molecules cross the cellular membrane.

plasmolysis is when the cell looses watter in a hypertonic solution through the process of osmosis...
in simple words the water from the cell comes out and get mixed with the higher concentrated solution
and shrinks in size by the process of osmosis it is called plasmolysis.

When a cell is kept in hypertonic solution it losses all of its water due to osmosis and gets shrink .This process of loosing water by the cell and getting shrink in hypertonic solution is known as pkasmolysis.

when a living plant cell loses water by osmosis , there is a contradiction or shrinkage of the components of the cell away from the cell wall . This phenomenon is known as plasmolysis . for example :- red blood cells shrink when placed in a salt solution .
