Dear student,

When the soil is without vegetation cover, the rainwater carries away the soil and causes its loss. ... Trees are the natural absorbers because during heavy rainfall the roots absorbs water and hold the soil tightly. It reduces sediments going into rivers and increasing water absorption into the ground.
