Actually, plastids are not present in animal cells. Plastids are organelles found exclusively in plant cells and some protists, like algae. They play essential roles in processes such as photosynthesis, storage of starches, and synthesis of pigments. Animal cells lack plastids and perform similar functions through other organelles, like mitochondria for energy production and lysosomes for storage and digestion.
