“If Thompson’s model is correct, then a metal foil can be treated as an uniform film of positive electricity containing electrons.A beam of alpha-particles fired at it should pass straight through” WHY SHOULD THE ALPHA PARTICLES PASS STRAIGHT THROUGH? (SRP Pg-71)

HELLO DEAR,
IT IS NOW KNOWN THAT MOST OF THE SPACE BETWEEN A ATOM IS EMPTY AS PROTONS AND NEUTRONS ARE PRESENT INSIDE THE NUCLEUS, AND ELECTRONS ARE PRESENT IN SHELLS . SO THE REMAINING SPACE IS EMPTY.
SO THE ALPHA PARTICLES WHICH PASS THROUGH THIS SPACE DOES NOT GET ATTRACTED BY ELECTRONS NEITHER BY PROTONS. MEANS THESE ALPHA PARTICLES NEITHER GET POSITIVE CHARGE FOR ATTRACTION NOR THEY GET NEGATIVE CHARGE FOR REPULSION. SO THEY PASS STRAIGHT THROUGHOUT
THANX... IF YOU UNDERSTAND IT PLEASE APPROVE IT , BUT IF YOU DONOT UNDERSTAND PLEASE DO NOT DISAPPROVE IT AND POST YOUR QUERY ALSO. I WILL SURELY ANSWER YOU.
THANX ONCE AGAIN
