Dear student

Formula unit mass of Ca3(PO4)2

Formula unit mass is defined as the sum of the mass of all the atoms each multiplied by its atomic masses that are present in the empirical formula of a compound. It is expressed in amu.

Atomic mass of

  • Ca = 40.07
  • P = 30. 9
  • O = 16

Ca3(PO4)2 = (3 × atomic mass of Ca) + (2 × atomic mass of phosphorus) + (8 × atomic mass of oxygen)

Ca3(PO4)2 = (3 × 40.07) + (2 × 30.9) + (8 × 16)

Ca3(PO4)2 = 120.21 + 61.8 + 128

Ca3(PO4)= 309.9 ≅ 310
