While the majority of prokaryotes are indeed unicellular organisms, some prokaryotes can form multicellular structures or colonies. For instance, some bacteria can aggregate to form biofilms, which are multicellular communities encased in a matrix of extracellular polymeric substances. Additionally, certain cyanobacteria can form filaments or colonies. However, compared to eukaryotes, multicellularity is less common among prokaryotes.
