Dear Saurabh

  • Here, m = 500 g = 0.5 kg, u = 50 ms–1, u = 0, t = 0.01 s
  • The force of nail on the hammer,
  1.  F =  Change in momentum                                                                                                                                                                 time
  2.  F = m(v - u) /  t

                 = 0.5 (0 - 50)

                        0.01

                 =   –2500 N

  • The negative sign means that the force of nail on the hammer is acting in the direction opposite to that of hammer.
