In the city, 8000 families read A, 4000read B & 1000 read both A and B.

   ∴ |A| = 7000 |B| = 3000 |A∩B| = 1000

    3.5% of families who read A = = 245

    25% of the families who read B = = 750

    50% of the families read both A and B = = 500

∴ number of families who look into advertisements

   i.e. |C| = 245 + 750 + 500

     |C| = 1495
