i hope that you know about componendo and dividendo. If not then i request you to just go through it, it will hardly take 10 minutes and it really is important for future problem solving in algebra.
to start with we have
(a+b)/(a-b) = 2
using componendo and dividendo we get,
a/b = 3; therefore a=3b
now we have a2 = 9b2
and a.b = 3b2
now solve by substituting these values in asked question
we will get (7b2) /(14b2)
this gives ½ as the ANS
