Avoltaic cellis an electrochemicalcellthat uses a chemical reaction to produce electrical energy. The important parts of avoltaic cell: The anode is an electrode where oxidation occurs. The cathode is an electrode where reduction occurs.
Electrolyte is a solution containing ions that can conduct.
Anelectrodeis an electrical conductor used to make contact with a nonmetallic part of a circuit (e.g. a semiconductor, an electrolyte or a vacuum).
