A bisector and a perpendicular bisector are both concepts related to geometry and lines, but they serve different purposes and have distinct characteristics:

Bisector:

A bisector is a line, ray, or segment that divides another line, angle, or segment into two equal parts.
It essentially "cuts" the line, angle, or segment into two congruent (equal) parts.
A bisector can be an angle bisector, segment bisector, or line bisector, depending on what it is dividing.
Perpendicular Bisector:

A perpendicular bisector is a specific type of bisector that divides a line segment into two equal parts while also forming right angles (90-degree angles) with the line segment at the point of division.
It not only divides the segment into two congruent parts but also ensures that these two parts are perpendicular to the original line segment.
The perpendicular bisector essentially "cuts" the line segment in half and creates two right angles where it intersects the segment.
In summary, while both bisectors and perpendicular bisectors involve dividing lines or line segments, the key difference is that a perpendicular bisector not only divides the segment into two equal parts but also ensures that these parts are at right angles to the original line segment. Regular bisectors, on the other hand, may not necessarily form right angles and simply divide into equal parts.
