PQ and RS are two parallel chords of a circle whose radius is 10cm. PQ=16 , RS= 12. find distance between two chords lying on same side of centre. I know the solution for this question, but my query is : in the question it's not given that there is a perpendicular drawn from centre to the sides. Then, from where do we always consider the property perpendicular from centre to a chord bisects the chord?

Dear Student,

Although perpendicular is not given, but even though if we have the circle so we can draw the perpendicular from it and use that property.

Thanks.
