To find the total thickness of the stack, we need to calculate the thickness of the books and the paper sheets separately, then add them together.

Calculating the Thickness of the Books

Each book has a thickness of 20 mm, and there are 5 books:

  • Thickness of books = Number of books × Thickness of each book
  • Thickness of books = 5 × 20 mm = 100 mm

Calculating the Thickness of the Paper Sheets

Each paper sheet is 0.016 mm thick, and there are 5 sheets:

  • Thickness of paper sheets = Number of sheets × Thickness of each sheet
  • Thickness of paper sheets = 5 × 0.016 mm = 0.08 mm

Finding the Total Thickness

Now, we add the thickness of the books and the paper sheets:

  • Total thickness = Thickness of books + Thickness of paper sheets
  • Total thickness = 100 mm + 0.08 mm = 100.08 mm

The total thickness of the stack is 100.08 mm.
