1. Copper Losses

Copper losses occur due to the resistance in the winding conductors when current flows through them. This results in heat generation.

2. Iron Losses

Iron losses, also known as core losses, happen in the transformer's magnetic core. They consist of hysteresis and eddy current losses caused by the alternating magnetic field.

3. Stray Losses

Stray losses arise from leakage flux that induces currents in nearby conductive materials, leading to additional energy loss.

4. Dielectric Losses

Dielectric losses occur in the insulating materials of the transformer when they are subjected to an electric field, resulting in energy dissipation.

Minimizing Iron Losses

To reduce iron losses, one effective method is to use high-quality magnetic materials with low hysteresis loss. Additionally, optimizing the design of the core to minimize eddy currents can significantly enhance efficiency.
