Direction of Magnetic Field Lines

Magnetic field lines always point from the north pole to the south pole of a magnet. This indicates the direction of the magnetic force experienced by a positive test charge.

The density of the lines represents the strength of the magnetic field. Closer lines indicate a stronger magnetic field, while lines that are farther apart suggest a weaker field.

Non-Intersecting Nature

Magnetic field lines never cross each other. If they did, it would imply that there are two different directions of the magnetic field at the same point, which is impossible.

Field lines form closed loops. They exit from the north pole, travel through the surrounding space, and return to the south pole, completing the circuit.
