Electric flux is a scalar quantity. It is used to describe the total number of electric field lines passing through a closed surface. Electric flux depends on the magnitude and distribution of electric field lines passing through the surface and is independent of the direction of these lines. Hence, it does not have a direction and is considered a scalar quantity. Electric flux is measured in units of electric field times area (N⋅m²/C or V⋅m).
