A henry (symbol: H) is the unit of measurement for inductance in the International System of Units (SI). Inductance is a property of an electrical circuit component, typically a coil or wire, that opposes changes in current flowing through it. When one volt of electromotive force (emf) is applied to a circuit and the current changes at a rate of one ampere per second, the inductance of that circuit component is said to be one henry. In simpler terms, a henry represents the amount of inductance required to induce a one-volt change in current per one ampere per second rate of change.
