Exhaustive events are those that cover all possible outcomes of a particular situation. Here are two clear examples:

Example 1: Rolling a Die

When you roll a standard six-sided die, the possible outcomes are:

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3
  • 4
  • 5
  • 6

In this case, the event of rolling the die is exhaustive because it includes every number that can appear on the die.

Example 2: Flipping a Coin

When flipping a fair coin, there are two possible outcomes:

  • Heads
  • Tails

This event is also exhaustive since it accounts for all the results that can occur when the coin is flipped.
