The gravitational potential energy (GPE) of an object is determined by its mass, the acceleration due to gravity, and its height above a reference point. To increase the GPE of an object, you can do one or more of the following:

Increase its mass: The gravitational potential energy is directly proportional to the mass of the object. By adding more mass to the object, its GPE will increase.

Increase its height: The gravitational potential energy is also directly proportional to the height or distance above the reference point. Raising the object to a higher position will increase its GPE. For example, lifting a book from the ground to a shelf will increase its GPE.

Increase the strength of gravity: The strength of gravity varies with location. If you can somehow increase the gravitational force acting on the object, its GPE will increase accordingly. However, this is not something that can be easily done in practice.

In most cases, the most practical way to increase an object's gravitational potential energy is by changing its height above the reference point or by adding mass to it. Keep in mind that when you increase an object's GPE, you are essentially storing potential energy that can be converted into kinetic energy when the object falls or is released.
