Zero work refers to situations where no physical or mechanical work is done, even if energy is being used in some form. Here are five examples to illustrate this concept:

1. Holding a Heavy Object Steadily

When you hold a heavy box in place without moving it, you exert force upwards, but since there is no displacement, the work done is zero.

2. Carrying an Object Horizontally

If you walk while carrying a bag at a constant height, the vertical displacement is zero. Thus, even though you are moving, the work done against gravity is zero.

3. Pushing Against a Wall

When you push against a wall with all your strength but it doesn’t move, no work is done. The force is applied, but there is no displacement.

4. Standing Still

If you stand still on the ground, you are exerting a force to counteract gravity, but since you are not moving, the work done is zero.

5. An Object at Rest

An object that remains at rest on a flat surface experiences no displacement. Even if forces act on it, if it doesn’t move, the work done remains zero.
