D. Chloroplasts

The Calvin cycle, also known as the light-independent reactions or the dark reactions, occurs in the chloroplasts of plants and algae. Specifically, it takes place in the stroma, which is the fluid-filled region surrounding the thylakoid membranes inside the chloroplasts. The Calvin cycle is responsible for converting carbon dioxide (CO2) into glucose through a series of enzymatic reactions.
