One example of a linear molecule is carbon dioxide (CO2). In CO2, the carbon atom is bonded to two oxygen atoms through double bonds. The molecule has a linear shape, with the carbon atom in the center and the two oxygen atoms on either side. The linear shape is a result of the arrangement of the atoms and the double bonds between them.
