At room temperature, which is typically around 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit, iodine is in a solid state. Iodine is a non-metallic element that forms dark purple crystals, and its solid form is commonly known as iodine crystals. If the temperature is increased above its melting point, which is around 113.7 degrees Celsius or 236.7 degrees Fahrenheit, iodine will change from a solid to a liquid state. If the temperature is further raised above its boiling point, which is around 184.3 degrees Celsius or 363.7 degrees Fahrenheit, it will transition into a gaseous state.
