Extraction of Raw Materials: Limestone, clay, and sand are the primary raw materials used. Limestone is usually obtained from quarries or mines, while clay and sand can be found in natural deposits.

Preparation of Raw Materials: The raw materials need to be crushed and ground into a fine powder to facilitate the subsequent chemical reactions.

Mixing and Blending: The finely ground raw materials are mixed in the correct proportions to achieve the desired chemical composition. The typical ratio is about 75% limestone, 15% clay, and 10% sand or other supplementary materials.

Clinkering: The blended raw materials are heated in a rotary kiln at high temperatures (around 1450°C or 2642°F). This process is known as clinkering and leads to the formation of small, hard nodules called clinker.

Cooling: The clinker is then cooled rapidly to avoid the formation of undesirable crystalline structures.

Grinding: The cooled clinker is ground into a fine powder along with a small amount of gypsum (calcium sulfate). This step is essential to obtain the fine consistency required for the cement to mix well with water and other components.

Packaging and Distribution: The final product, Portland cement, is packed into bags and distributed for use in construction projects.
