Orthophosphoric acid, also known as phosphoric acid, is a mineral acid with the chemical formula H3PO4. It is a clear, odorless liquid and is widely used in various industrial applications and in the production of fertilizers, detergents, food additives, and beverages.

Orthophosphoric acid is a triprotic acid, meaning it can donate three protons (H⁺ ions) per molecule in successive steps. It is a non-toxic acid when diluted, but concentrated solutions can be corrosive to skin and metals. In addition to its industrial uses, it is also commonly used as a pH adjuster and acidulant in food and beverages, particularly in soft drinks and as a flavoring agent in some foods.
