Hydrogen is not considered an alkali metal. Alkali metals are a group of chemical elements found in Group 1 of the periodic table, which includes lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), cesium (Cs), and francium (Fr). Hydrogen, however, is placed in a group by itself at the top of the periodic table. It is often categorized separately from the alkali metals because it doesn't exhibit the typical properties of alkali metals like metallic luster and high reactivity. Instead, hydrogen is a nonmetal, and while it shares some similarities with alkali metals, it also has distinct characteristics that set it apart.
