In the ozonolysis of benzene, three molecules of ozone (O3) are added. Ozonolysis is a chemical reaction in which ozone reacts with a compound, usually an alkene or alkyne, to form products. In the case of benzene, the reaction proceeds as follows:

C6H6 + 3O3 → C6H6O3 + 3O2

In this reaction, each molecule of benzene reacts with three molecules of ozone to form one molecule of benzene triozonide (C6H6O3) and three molecules of oxygen gas (O2).
