How is the sun burning in space without oxygen?

The Sun does not actually burn like a fire does on Earth. Instead, it generates energy through a process called nuclear fusion. The Sun's immense gravitational pressure and temperature at its core, which reaches millions of degrees, are the driving forces behind this process.

Nuclear fusion occurs when hydrogen atoms combine to form helium atoms, releasing a tremendous amount of energy in the process. The Sun's core is primarily composed of hydrogen, and the high temperature and pressure cause the hydrogen atoms to collide with enough force to overcome their natural repulsion, allowing them to fuse together. This fusion reaction releases a tremendous amount of energy in the form of light and heat.

Unlike a fire on Earth, which requires oxygen as a reactant, the Sun's nuclear fusion doesn't rely on oxygen or any other external source of oxygen. It's an entirely different process that occurs due to the extreme conditions at the Sun's core. The energy generated by this fusion reaction is what makes the Sun shine and provides heat and light to our solar system.
