Enzymes are actually a type of protein. Proteins are large, complex molecules made up of amino acids, and they serve various functions in the body, including structural support, transport, and catalyzing biochemical reactions. Enzymes are a specific subclass of proteins that act as biological catalysts, speeding up chemical reactions in living organisms. So, while all enzymes are proteins, not all proteins are enzymes. Enzymes have a specific three-dimensional structure that allows them to bind to substrates and facilitate chemical reactions, while other proteins may have different structures and functions altogether.
