Epicardium, endocardium, and myocardium are three distinct layers of tissue that make up the walls of the heart:

Epicardium: This is the outermost layer of the heart and is also known as the visceral layer of the serous pericardium. It consists of a thin layer of connective tissue and fat, and it also contains blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerves that supply the heart muscle.

Myocardium: The myocardium is the middle and thickest layer of the heart wall. It is composed primarily of cardiac muscle cells (cardiomyocytes) and is responsible for the contraction of the heart that enables it to pump blood throughout the body. The thickness of the myocardium varies in different parts of the heart depending on the workload of each chamber.

Endocardium: The endocardium is the innermost layer of the heart. It consists of endothelial cells and connective tissue with some elastic fibers. The endocardium lines the chambers of the heart and covers the heart valves. It provides a smooth lining for the chambers and ensures blood flows easily through the heart without clotting.

These three layers work together to maintain the structure, function, and integrity of the heart, enabling it to efficiently pump blood to meet the body's needs.
