The correct sequence of the sub stages of prophase I in meiosis is:

B) Leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, diakinesis.

The correct order is:

Leptotene: Chromosomes start condensing and becoming visible. Each chromosome consists of two sister chromatids.
Zygotene: Homologous chromosomes pair up and align with each other. This pairing is known as synapsis.
Pachytene: Crossing over occurs between non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes. This results in the exchange of genetic material between homologous chromosomes.
Diplotene: Homologous chromosomes start to separate but remain connected at points called chiasmata. Crossing over is completed at this stage.
Diakinesis: Chromosomes continue to condense further, and the nuclear envelope begins to break down. The chiasmata become more visible.
So, the correct sequence is B) Leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, diakinesis.
