The souring of milk is a chemical change. In this process, the bacteria present in milk, such as Lactobacillus, ferment the lactose sugar present in milk and convert it into lactic acid. This chemical reaction changes the composition of the milk and gives it a sour taste and smell. Therefore, the change from fresh milk to sour milk involves a chemical transformation and is considered a chemical change.
