Hydroponic technology is a method of growing plants without soil, using nutrient-rich water solutions instead. Here's an overview of how plants are grown using hydroponic technology:

Components of Hydroponic Systems
Growing Medium: Instead of soil, hydroponic systems use inert growing media to support the plant's root system. Common media include:

Rockwool
Perlite
Vermiculite
Coconut coir
Clay pellets
Nutrient Solution: This is a water-based solution that contains all the essential nutrients required for plant growth, including macronutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, and micronutrients like iron, manganese, and zinc.

Water and Oxygen: Plants in hydroponic systems need an ample supply of water and oxygen. The roots are kept in an environment where they can easily absorb both.

Light: For photosynthesis, plants need light. In indoor hydroponic systems, this is provided by artificial grow lights, such as LED or fluorescent lights, which mimic the spectrum of natural sunlight.

Types of Hydroponic Systems
Nutrient Film Technique (NFT):

A thin film of nutrient-rich water flows over the roots of the plants in a slight downward slope.
The roots absorb the nutrients, and the excess solution is recirculated back into the system.
Deep Water Culture (DWC):

Plants are suspended in a nutrient solution with their roots submerged in oxygenated water.
Air stones and pumps are used to oxygenate the water to prevent root rot.
Wick System:

A passive system where a wick (usually made of a material like felt) draws nutrient solution from a reservoir to the plant roots.
Suitable for small plants and herbs.
Ebb and Flow (Flood and Drain):

The growing tray is periodically flooded with nutrient solution and then drained back into the reservoir.
This system is controlled by a timer and provides the plants with nutrients, water, and oxygen in cycles.
