Structure: The true coelom is lined by a mesodermal membrane on all sides. This complete lining provides a protective and supportive environment for the internal organs.
Function: The true coelom also acts as a hydrostatic skeleton and provides a well-organized space for organ movement and efficient organ functioning. Additionally, it allows for more complex organ interactions and specialization.
Examples: Annelids (segmented worms), mollusks, arthropods, echinoderms, and chordates (including vertebrates) are examples of animals that possess a true coelom.
