Semi-autonomous organelles are those which have their own DNA and they replicate independently and in the above-mentioned terms, the semi-autonomous organelle is known as the kitchen of the plant cells. Complete answer: Plastids are double-membrane organelles which can be found in the cells of plants and algae. The responsibility of the manufacturing and storage of food is of plastids. Out of its type, one is chloroplast which acts as a semi-autonomous organelle as they have their own DNA to replicate and have ribosomes so that they can produce energy by themselves. Chloroplasts and mitochondria are the only two organelles who are semi-autonomous in nature. But their control on replication does not exist. The replication is controlled by the cell. The DNA and ribosomes they have helps them to synthesize the proteins independently. Chloroplasts are the organelles that help to conduct the process of photosynthesis where the chlorophyll being the photosynthetic pigment captures the sunlight and then stores it to form ATP and NADPH. The quantity of chloroplasts varies from cell to cell. Chloroplasts are considered to be highly dynamic, they circulate and move around within the cells. Chloroplasts are formed by inheriting from daughter cells in the process of cell division instead of by the plant cell. Hence, the correct answer is option (C). Chloroplast Note: Other than the chloroplast(Plastids), mitochondria which is also known as the power house or the chemical factory of the cell is another semi-autonomous organelle as it has its own DNA and ribosomes for the energy production by themselves without the help of any other organelles.
