Some estimates suggest it could extend up to 100,000 AU from the Sun or even farther.

Composition:

Kuiper Belt: The objects in the Kuiper Belt are primarily composed of ices such as water, ammonia, and methane, as well as rocky materials. It contains various types of objects, including dwarf planets like Pluto, as well as smaller objects like Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) and scattered disk objects.

Oort Cloud: The Oort Cloud is thought to consist of a vast reservoir of icy bodies, including comets, that are composed of volatile ices, dust, and rocky materials. These objects are extremely distant and cold, preserving their original composition from the early solar system.

Origin:

Kuiper Belt: Objects in the Kuiper Belt are thought to have formed relatively close to their current positions in the early solar system. It is believed that they are remnants of the original solar nebula from which the solar system formed.

Oort Cloud: The Oort Cloud is believed to have formed much farther from the Sun, possibly even in the primordial disk of gas and dust from which the entire solar system formed.
