Isomers are molecules that have the same molecular formula (i.e., the same number and types of atoms) but differ in their arrangement or connectivity of atoms. In other words, isomers are different compounds that have the same chemical composition.

Butane is a hydrocarbon with the molecular formula C4H10. It exists in two isomeric forms:

n-Butane (Normal Butane):

Structural Formula: CH3-CH2-CH2-CH3
This is the straight-chain or normal form of butane.
Isobutane (2-Methylpropane):

Structural Formula: (CH3)3CH
Isobutane is an isomer of butane where the carbon atoms are arranged differently, forming a branched structure.
These two isomers have the same molecular formula (C4H10) but different structural arrangements, making them distinct compounds with different chemical and physical properties.
