Hello there!

The Pituitary gland, controlled by the Hypothalamus, is considered to be the master gland of our body (according to class 10. However, from class 11, you’ll study that Hypothalamus is the master gland). Pituitary secretes many hormones that stimulate other endocrine glands of our body to secrete their respective hormones, in times of need.

The following hormones are secreted by the Pituitary:

=> Growth Hormone (GH), whose hypersecretion in childhood causes Gigantism and in adulthood causes Acromegaly, and hyposecretion causes Dwarfism.

=> Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), whose hyposecretion and hypersecretion causes abnormal functioning of the Thyroid gland, and hence production of Thyroxine from it.

=> Adreno-Cortico Tropic Hormone (ACTH), that stimulates the Adrenal glands to produce adrenaline, which does it’s work during an emergency (increases heartbeat, dilates pupils, etc).

=> Anti-Diuretic Hormone (ADH).

=> Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone (MSH), that maintains skin pigmentation.

=> Hormones secreted only in female are Prolactin or Luteotropic Hormone, Luteinizing Hormone, Follicle stimulating hormone, Oxytocin.

=> Hormones secreted only in male are Interstitial Cell Stimulating Hormone.

HOPE THIS HELPS!
All the Best for your upcoming boards ;)
